A tiger traveled 3.5 km, then turned around and traveled 1,250 m back toward his starting point. How many meters was he from his starting point?

Answer:

2,250 meters, or 2.25 kilometers.

Explanation:

There are 1000 meters in a kilometer, so if you convert 1,250 meters into kilometers, that gives you 1.25 kilometers.

So, you subtract 1.25 from 3.5 and you get 2.25.

2,250 m from his starting point.

Just turn 3.5 into 3500.
Then subtract 3500 by 1250. And the tiger ran 2250 m.
