a grocery store sells 12 pounds of apples. Of those 5 3/4 pounds are green and 3n1/4 are golden. The rest are red. Which is a more reasonable estimate or how many pounds of red apples the grocer sold: 3 pounds or 5 pounds. Explain

I think a reasonable estimate for this problem is 3 pounds because when you add 5 3/4 plus 3 1/4 you get 12 and 12 divided by 4 equals 3 so that is why 3 pounds is a good estimate for this problem. I hope my answer helped. Please comment back if you have any questions about my explanation.
