The Boland Amendment was the answer from The US Congress to stop President Reagan increasing intervention in the country of Nicaragua own state affairs. On January 20th 1981, soon after taking office President Reagan wanted to eliminate the Sandinista regime in Nicaragua, because it considered it to be a pro-communist entity.

To achieve this, the US Congress passed a series of acts to limit the Reagan's administration from actively taking part on the Nicaraguan internal conflict.

A is the correct answer because the final result was that The US Congress forbade the American Government from helping the Contras in Nicaragua. Nevertheless, the Reagan administration continued to try somehow to overthrow the communist Sandinista regime at any cost. Unfortunately, ReaganĀ“s actions were against the congress mandate, and created a major scandal for his administration, and almost terminated it.
