y = x + 2

Use the vale of y in the 2nd equation in the first:

y = 3x + 4

x + 2 = 3x + 4

-2x = 2

x = -1

Use this value of x (-1) in either equation to find y:

y = x + 2

y = -1 + 2

y = 1
