The visible spectral lines has 7 main constituents which occurs in form of 7 different colors and they exist in a definite pattern. That pattern of existence is seen on dispersion of the visible light through prism or even in rain bow.

The pattern is termed as VIBGYOR, which is namely Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. On striking a surface, the 6 of these colors get absorbed and one of the color is reflected which is seen by us, for example, a red colored shirt.
