The urbanization of many city centers during the start of the 20th century was due to many pull factors. One of them was that jobs in the cities, as opposed to the rural areas, paid more and there was a better quality of life in these cities.

A major cause of migration to the cities at the turn of the century in the United States was "c. industrial jobs" since this migration involved mostly southern blacks who wanted better opportunities than farming.
