What is one advantage of a confederation over a unitary government? A confederation is

less likely to allow the national government to abuse power
more likely to collect taxes for national projects
more likely to raise a standing, national army for defense
less likely to allow the states to collect taxes for state projects

Answer:

less likely to allow the national government to abuse power

Step-by-step explanation:

In a confederation, the local governments actually have more power than the central government. So, when it comes to a Federal government or National government trying to impose its will on a State, this would just not be possible if the Government System is a Confederation. Local laws and decisions would trump the national ones.
