(4-12)/(-1+5)= -8/4= -2

y - 12=-2(x+5)

y-12= -2x-10

y= -2x+2

for pts (-5,12) and (-1,4)

gradient, m = (12 - 4)/(-5 - (-1)) = 8/-4 = -2

eqn of line, y = mx + c ...eqn 1

subst for m=-2 and 1 pt in eqn 1

12 = (-2) (-5)+c

c = 2

eqn of line...y = -2x + 2
