What is the difference between V-E day and V-J day ? What is their significance in WWII

Answer: V-E day was “Victory in Europe Day.” It was when the Allies accepted Nazi Germany’s surrender. V-J Day was “Victory over Japan Day,” when Japan unconditionally surrendered to the Allies.

V-E Day was May 8, 1945. It came after the Soviet Union’s armies overtook Berlin and Germany’s leader (“Der Fuehrer”) Took his own life.

V-J Day was August 14, 1945. It came after the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese Cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

V-E Day is the day that World War II ended in Europe. VJ was the day the War ended in the Pacific.

They mark the end of fighting in each of the two areas of fighting during World War II.
