Why was Mao Zedong and the Communist Party more appealing than the Nationalist Party of China?

The Nationalists were not popular among the Chinese because they were unable to steady the collapsing Chinese economy after World War II.

The Communist Party had a more charismatic (charming) leader.

Im pretty sure its the first one, but Idk lol

Thanks:)

In addition to this, Chiang Kai-Shek's government was famously corrupt, inept, and just a terrible government for the people.
