Marty Glickman and Sam Stahler were not allowed to compete in the 1936 races in the U.S 4×1 team because they were Jewish. All Germanic Jews had been banned from participating in the Olympic games. Hitler and the Nazi party believed that sports could be a way to weed out the weak, Jewish and other undesirables.
