A wave that reflects off a fixed boundary

The answer is; standing waves

When the incident waves deflect of the fixed boundary, it inteferes with itself such that particular regions in the wave seem to stand still (this creates points called nodes). This however is created by harmonic frequencies for it to be regular and repeating.
