How can I make this not a run - on sentence?

When a person experiences hysteria,he/she has uncontrollable emotions and can be mad then happy and then sad which is what happened to Paul but it was different.

Try This!:

When a person experiences hysteria, they can suffer from uncontrollable emotions. Sometimes they can be mad, then immediately happy! This happened to Paul, but was slightly different.
