Muhammad Ali's Biggest Fight
Muhammad Ali was known as a champion boxer. Muhammad Ali was also known
as a fighter for racial and social justice. What many may not know, however, is that
Muhammad Ali had dyslexia. Dyslexia is a learning disability that may make it
difficult for a person to read, write, or spell
When Muhammad Ali was growing up, teachers and researchers did not know a
lot about dyslexia or how to help children who struggle with the disability. As a
student, Ali did not know that he had dyslexia, but he knew that he struggled in
school, which made him lose confidence in himself
Muhammad Ali did not let his struggle with reading stop him from achieving
greatness as an adult. All these years later, Muhammad Ali is known as the greatest
of all time in boxing. He won a gold medal in the Olympics in 1960. He also won the
world heavyweight championship three times
After his boxing career ended, Muhammad Ali remembered struggle in school,
especially his hatred of reading into his adult life. He understood that dyslexia
affects children's desires to read and enjoyment of reading. To help other students,
Muhammad Ali made a series of books called Go the Distance.
