In a short answer, what is the difference between haploid and diploid?

Haploid is when a cell has one complete set of chromosomes.

Diploid is when a cell has two complete sets of chromosomes.

Essentially, diploid cells have two complete sets of chromosomes, whereas haploid cells only have one complete set of chromosomes.
