Two negative integers are 5 units apart on the number line, and their product is 126. What is the sum of the two integers?

x-y=5 AND xy=126
So x=y+5
Use substitution.
(y+5)y=126
Y^2+5y-126=0
(y+14)(y-9)=0
So the negative root is y= -14

X(-14)=126
X=-9

-14+-9=-23 so A.
