Expand the left hand side:

`3x+0.3 = 1.3`

Subtract 0.3 from both sides:

`3x = 1`

Divide both sides by 3:

`x=(1)/(3)`

Note that 0.33 is just an approximation. In fact, if you substitute that value for x in the equation, you get

`3(0.33+0.1) = 3\cdot 0.43 = 1.29 \\eq 1.3`

Instead, if you use the exact value, you have

`3\left((1)/(3)+0.1\right) = 1+0.3 = 1.3`
