Answer:

2270

Explanation:

You don't multiply 22.7 by 10.

Because the box ITSELF is becoming 10 times larger, which means that the length, width and height becomes larger than 10.

Let's look at an example:

1×2 =2

Scale both of them up by a factor of 10.

10×20=200

Since both factors were scaled up by multiplying 10, the product is scaled up by a factor of 100.

So 22.7 times 100 is 2270

Answer:

Explanation:

The question is not clear as to which noun the "it" refers to... box or surface area.

Your answer is correct if you are asked to scale up the SURFACE AREA of the box. 22.7(10) = 227 in²

If the BOX itself is to be scaled by a factor of ten, then each box dimension is ten times longer than original and the area is scaled by 10² = 100.

22.7(10²) = 2270 in²
