For friends are sharing a meal. They each agreed to pay 25% of the total cost. The meal costs $115. How much does each friend pay?

A:$26.15. C:$32.12

B:$28.75. D:$35.65

Each \: friend \: pays: (25 * 115)/(100) = (115)/(4) = 28.75 \\ \Rightarrow B.\:\$28.75

There are two ways to do this:

Way 1- Since you know there are 4 people and each will pay 25%, you know that every person will pay equally / the same amount so you can just do 115/4 and get $28.75 per person

Way 2- You can convert 25% into a decimal by multiplying it by 100 and getting 0.25 and multiplying 0.25 x 115 to get 25% of 115, which is what everyone will pay and you get B $28.75
