First calculate BD:

BD^2 = 2.4^2 + 2.4^2

BD^2 = 11.52

BD = 3.39411255

x^2 = 3.8^2 - 3.39411255^2

x^2 = 2.92

x = 1.708800740

x = 1.7cm

Hope This Helps You!

Good Luck (:

Answer:

\large\boxed{x=√(2.92)\ cm\approx1.71\ cm}

Explanation:

Look at the picture.

Segment d is the diagonal of square.

The formula of a diagonal of a square with side a:

d=a\sqrt2

Therefore we have

a=2.4\sqrt2\ cm\to d=2.4\sqrt2\ cm

Use the Pythagorean theorem to calculate x:

x^2+d^2=EB^2

Substitute

d=2.4\sqrt2\ cm,\ EB=3.8\ cm

x^2+(2.4\sqrt2)^2=(3.8)^2

x^2+(2.4)^2(\sqrt2)^2=14.44

x^2+(5.76)(2)=14.44

x^2+11.52=14.44 subtract 11.52 from both sides

x^2=2.92\to x=√(2.92)\ cm\\\\x\approx1.71\ cm
