a) \:(f - g)(x) = 3 {x}^(2) - x + 1 + {x}^(2) - 5x + 6 = 4{x}^(2) - 6x + 7 \\ b) \: (f - g)( - 1) = 4{( - 1)}^(2) - 6( - 1) + 7 = 4 + 6 + 7 = 17
