The Exclusionary Rule is a constitutional law that was designed in order to:

  1. Protect American citizens from illegal searches and seizures (4th Amendment) .
  2. Prevent the violation of the 5th (protection against self-incrimination) and 6th (right to judicial proceedings before trial) amendments.
