In partial fraction decomposition, if you have a square factored term in the denominator, for instance
(x+3)/((x+7)(x-5)^(2) ) why do you use two different terms when making the partial fractions with one for, in this instance, (x-5) and
(x-5)^(2)

This is because the partial fraction needs to be added to the square version in order to get the final answer.

Using the example in the question:

You have to create the partial fraction template

(I will just show the denominator part to help you understand)

(x + 7) + (x - 5) + (x - 5)^2
