So, f(1) = 3;

a - a - a - 5 = 3;

- a - 5 = 3;

-a = 5 + 3;

-a = 8;

a = - 8;

f(x) = (-8)x^3 - (-8)x^2 + 8x - 5;

f(-2) = (-8)(-2)^3 - (-8)(-2)^2 + 8·2 - 5 = +64 - 32 + 16 - 5 = 43;
