They portray it as very glamorous, very classy and jazzy, yet- they still show add crime/gangsters for dramatic twist.

They portray the 1920s as exaggeratingly glamorous; at the same time, they show crime in the form of gangsters for slight drama. Workers had more money to spend in the 1920s.
