So your equation is x^2-4x+3.

x^2 is a. -4 is b. and 3 is c.

x=4+/-sqrt (-4)^2-4(1)(3)/2(1).

This will equal 4+/-sqrt16-12/2

It will simplify to 4+/-2/2.

No you have two equations 4+2/2 and 4-2/2.

4+2/2=3.

4-2/2=1.

Your answers are 1 and 3.
