Explanation:

The terms are square numbers with each term shifted to the right by 1

That is 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, .....

Thus to obtain 4 in the first position, then

n = 1 → (1 + 1)² = 2² = 4

To obtain any term add 1 to its position in the sequence, that is


a_(n) = (n + 1)²
