Why do you think there are no solutions to |x| = -2

Answer: Positive ≠ Negative

Explanation:

|x| is the absolute value of an unknown number. Absolute value represents distance so it will always be a positive number.

|2| = 2 and |-2| = 2

Since the absolute value will always be a positive number regardless of what the x-value is, then we can understand the equation to be:

|x| (a positive number) = -2 (a negative number)

There is no positive number that will equal a negative number so there are NO Solutions
