After the death of President Roosevelt, his wife, Eleanor Roosevelt, continued her career in politics, being involved in the United Nations until the 1960s.

Eleanor Roosevelt chaired the United Nations Human Rights Commission between 1947 and 1951 and was a delegate to the General Assembly of the United Nations between 1946 and 1952. She also participated in the formulation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, referring to it as "The Magna Carta of humanity".

She continued participating actively in the political life of his country until his death in 1962.
