A random sample of 100 children were asked whether they prefer apples or oranges. The results are shown in the table.

Answer:

Total Children = 100

Boys = 27 + 18 = 45

Girls = 32 + 23 = 55

As their is no drop down menu with phrases to chose from, we will assume phrases to complete the statements ourselves so that they are according to the data given.

Statement 1:

''Of the boys surveyed, more preferred apples. "

27 boys preferred apples while only 18 boys preferred oranges.

Statement 2:

"Of the girls, more preferred Apples. "

32 girls preferred apples while only 23 girls preferred oranges.

Statement 3:

"There appear to be an association between gender and fruit preference. "

This statement seems complete already. However, it is not true as majority from both the genders preferred apples.
