When one is trying to make an image for someone, you are using imagery to create a picture for the person. This includes explaining it in a way that makes it appeal to a person's five senses (what does it look like, feel like, smell like, sound like, and taste like). Writing a paper can just be informative. Image making is writing in a way that the reader feels like they are in the text or are part of the text. For example, writing would be simply stating there is a tree in the front yard. But image making would be saying, "When I was looking out the window of my bedroom, a slight breeze was moving the leaves of the very tree I used to climb as a child. The branches are low enough for me to hop upon and sturdy enough to hold my weight. Its leaves are an emerald green, lush and full, while slightly orange on the edges as they prepare to turn for the fall."
