Mass is based on the number of molecules contained in an object and is constant. Weight is the gravitational force acting on a mass and it depends on the local gravitational pull; e.g. object weighs less on Moon than on Earth.

Mass is the amount of matter in a material while weight is a measure of how the force of gravity acts upon the mass.
