Soil erosion is defined as the wearing away of topsoil. Topsoil is the top layer of soil and is the most fertile because it contains the most organic, nutrient-rich materials. Therefore, this is the layer that farmers want to protect for growing their crops and ranchers want to protect for growing grasses for their cattle to graze on.

Answer:

Soil erosion is the washing away or the blowing away of the top layer of the soil due to wind or water. this generally occurs due to excess of deforestation or cutting down of trees.

Soil erosion is the natural process and remove the topmost layer of the soil from one location to another and with this motion nutrient of the soil also washed away with them. this process becomes a problem when this activity starts causing by the humans.
