1st take the area of the circle.

To find the area of the circle, equation is πr²

(considering π=3.14 , and the radius to be 8.5 from 1/2 of the diameter)

πr²= 3.14× (8.5)²

=227 (rounded off value)

then find the are of the figure in the middle. To find the area of a triangle with a 90° angle,use the equation = 1/2 × base × height

1/2× 8× 15=60

now since there are 2 of those triangles inside the circle, multiply it by 2

60×2= 120

now reduce the area of the 2 triangles from the area of the circle

227-120=107
