The area (A) of a triangle is calculated as

A =
(1)/(2) bh ( b is the base and h the altitude )

Here A = 84 and b = 14 , then


(1)/(2) × 14 × h = 84

7h = 84 ( divide both sides by 7 )

h = 12

The altitude is 12 cm
