(NH4)2S
Explanation;
Ammonium sulphide, (NH4)2S, is an unstable compound, and in aqueous solution it exists as ammonia (NH4OH) and ammonium hydrosulphide, NH4HS.
it is a highly water-soluble compound and produces the foul-smelling gas h2s when the solution is acidified.
The anions; cl-, br-, i-, so42-, co32-, po43-, oh-, or s2- are not precipitated by (NH4)2S, but are precipitated by salts such as barium and silver nitrate.
