During high and low tides the oceans water levels rise and fall and this is clearly evident at the shores of the ocean through receedind and expanding of the shorelines. This potential difference is harnessed by turbines strategically put at the shore of the oceans and convert the potential difference to electricity. This is amongst the cleanest energy forms since it does release pollutants into the environment.
