For f ( x ) = 3 x + 1 and g( x ) = x^​2 - 6, find ( f + g )

f(x) = 3x + 1

g(x) = x^2 - 6

Find f(x) + g(x)

Add the two equations:

3x + 1 + x^2 - 6

Simplify by combining like terms then rearrange the equation:

x^2 + 3x - 5
