(-12 × x) + (-12 × 4) + 14x = 60

-12x - 48 + 14x = 60

ii) collect like terms

-12x + 14x - 48 = 60

iii) move constant to the right-hand side and change its sign

2x = 60 + 48

iv) add the numbers

2x = 108

v) divide both sides of the equation by 2


(2x)/(2) = (108)/(2)

x = 54
