Curtis paid $80 on the vet bill for his dog. Then the vet charged him $40 more for his dog's medicine. If he now owes the vet $120, what was his starting balance?

Answer:

He paid 80 at the start, so his starting must have been 80

Explanation:

80+40=120...

so either 0, or 80 because he owed nothing, or he owed the 80, then the 40 for medication

I hope this helps!

Answer:

Either $200 or $80 depending on the question.

Explanation:

1. Curtis paid $80

2. The vet charged $40 for the medicine. x + $40 = $120

3. If he owes the vet $120 and he paid $80 then his total bill is $200.

HOWEVER, if the question is asking what ammount he initially started with it would be $80 because that's all he has paid.
