Rich in natural resources and economically stable, Algeria attracted a decent FDI flows between 2006 and 2011. Most recently, there has been a sharp decline in European investment and greater interest from Gulf investors. A reorientation of FDI towards the domestic market is also noticeable with the proliferation of development projects in transportation and infrastructure. According to data published by UNCTAD in the World Investment Report 2018, the inflow of FDI between 2016 and 2017 is down slightly, from $ 1635 to $ 1203 million. The country falls from 74th to 83rd place between 2016 and 2017 in the ranking of the countries receiving the most flows. This decrease is mainly due to the fact that FDI in Algeria is still very dependent on the oil and gas market, whose prices have fallen in 2017. However, investment laws that have been put in place and diversification should allow FDI flows to recover in the years to come. The stock of FDI slightly increases, reaching $ 29 billion in 2017.
