I disagree that altered photos should be identified as such. I think people need to develop a skeptical eye and learn to notice when a picture doesn't look real. However, I think some people believe altered images should be identified because we can be greatly influenced by images that are not real. One area of concern is with body image. If all of the magazines and advertising feature models with unrealistic bodies that have been digitally altered, some people might believe they should try to have similar bodies too. I just think it would be better for people to understand how the digital technology is used, and not let these altered images influence them. I think labeling won't change how people react if they refuse to think about what they are seeing.
