Write an equation for the line that is parallel to the given line and that passes through the given point. y = 2x + 7; (3, 11)
y = 2x – 19
y = 1/2x + 5
y = 1/2x – 5
y = 2x + 5

Since it’s parallel, the slope is 2.
Using the point slope formula, you get the equation y-11=2(x-3)
You distribute and get y-11=2x-6
Add 11 to both sides and you get
y=2x+5
That’s the answer
