A = 3.14*8.5² = 226.865 /2 =113.4325

The diameter is 17m

d =2r

17 = 2r

Divide by 2

17/2 = 2r/2

8.5 =r

A semicircle is 1/2 of a circle, so 1/2 of the area of a circle is the area of a semicircle

A circle = pi r^2

1/2 A circle = 1/2 pi r^2

= 1/2 (3.14) (8.5)^2

= .5 * 3.14 * 72.25

=113.4325 m^2
