Answer: 8 containers

Explanation:

Given : Daniel has 20 quarts of water.

Size of container =
2(1)/(2) quarts

here,
2(1)/(2) can be written as
(2(2)+1)/(2)

=(4+1)/(2)=(5)/(2)

Now, the number of
2(1)/(2) quarts containers can be filled with 20 quarts of water=
20/(5)/(2)

=20*(2)/(5)=8

Hence, total 8 containers can be he filled.

Divide 20 quarts by 2 -1/2:

2 1/2 = 2.5

20 / 2.5 =8

He can fill 8 containers.
