NEED HELP ASAP! If you do this page for me I’ll love you forever. And eternal love is worth doing a few math questions right? Leah bought 4 pens and a bottle of nail color. Her sister bought 2 of the same pens and 4 bottles of nail color, and spent the same amount as Leah. The nail color cost $2. Use algebra tiles to find the cost of each pen.

Answer:

see explanation

Explanation:

Step 1

4x + 2 = 2x + 8 ← model of the situation

Step 2

Subtract 2x from both sides of the equation

4x - 2x + 2 = 2x - 2x + 8 ← simplify

2x + 2 = 8

Step 3

Subtract 2 from each side

2x + 2 - 2 = 8 - 2 ← simplify

2x = 6

Step 4

divide both sides by 2

x = 3

As a check

Substitute x = 3 into both sides of the equation and check validity

left side : (4 × 3) + 2 = 12 + 2 = 14

right side : (2 × 3) + 8 = 6 + 8 = 14

Both sides of the equation = 14, hence

Cost of each pen is $3
