What are examples of non-specific defenses?

The skin and phagocytes are nonspecific defenses, meaning they work to defend us against any foreign pathogen. Inflammation, a tissue-level response to injury or infection, and fever, a systemic response to infection or inflammation, are other examples of nonspecific defenses.
