Which industry helps countries like south Africa and Botswana build strong economies

In a word mining, Gold and Diamonds mainly for South Africa.

I thought Botswana would be the same as South Africa. It is mining, but it surprises me to find out their major export is coal. Botswana has a very good reputation of having a tough government but one free of corruption. The judicial effectiveness is high, especially for the region.
