Answer:

x = 4 x=-6

Explanation:

x^{2} + 2x - 24 = 0

Move the constant to the right

x^2 +2x -24+24 = 24

x^2 +2x = 24

b =2

We take b/2 and then square it

2/2 =1 1^1 =1

Add 1 to both sides

x^2 +2x+1 = 24+1

The left side is (x+b/2)^2

(x+1)^2 = 25

Take the square root of each side

sqrt((x+1)^2 ) = ±sqrt(25)

x+1 = ±5

Subtract 1 from each side

x+1-1 = -1±5

x = -1±5

x = -1+5 and x= -1-5

x = 4 x=-6

Hey there!

\bold{x^2+2x-24=0}

  • Firstly, you have to work out (factor out) the left side of your equation

  • \bold{Like:(x-4)(x+6)=0}
  • Since, we are working factoring, let's set your numbers to
    \bold{0}

  • \bold{Like:x-4=0}
    \bold{or}
    \bold{x+6=0}

  • \uparrowAfter solving the equation we just created, we should have the value(s) of the
    \bold{x-values}
    \downarrow

  • \boxed{\boxed{\bold{Answer:x=4[or]x=-6}}}

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!
