- 2x - 4y = 8 → (3)

Add (1) and (2) term by term

- 7y = 21 ( divide both sides by - 7 )

y = - 3

Substitute y = - 3 into (1) or (2) for corresponding value of x

(2) → x - 6 = - 4 ( add 6 to both sides )
